✅ STEP 1: Add the 3 Shortcuts to Your iPhone
You’ll be using 3 shortcuts. Click the links below to add them to your phone:
📍 iPhone Lost – This will turn on data, Wi-Fi, low power mode, and send your live location via iMessage
🤳 Selfie Capture – This will take a front camera photo and send it via iMessage
🔊 Sound Alarm – This will make your iPhone play a sound so you can find it nearby
How to add:
Tap the link
Your iPhone will open the Shortcuts app
Scroll down and tap "Add Shortcut"
Repeat for all three
⚙️ STEP 2: Create Automations (Message Triggers)
Now we’ll set up automations so these shortcuts can run automatically when a certain message is received.
Follow the below steps 3 times, one for each shortcut.
📍 Automation 1: Trigger "iPhone Lost" via SMS
Open the Shortcuts app (If you don't have Shortcuts app then please download it from App store)
Tap the middle bottom tab called “Automation”
Tap the “+” button in the top right
Tap “Create Personal Automation” OR New Automation
Scroll and select “Message”
Now you’ll set up the message trigger:
Under “When”, tap on “Sender”→ Choose the contact who will be allowed to trigger this (like your other number or a friend)
Tap “Message Contains”→ Type the trigger word: location
Toggle “Run Immediately” ON (important!)
Tap “Next”
Tap “Add Action” → search for “Run Shortcut”
Select “Run Shortcut”, then tap Shortcut → choose “iPhone Lost”
Tap Next, then Done
✅ Done! This will now run whenever your trusted contact sends the word “location” to your phone.
🤳 Automation 2: Trigger "Selfie Capture" via SMS
Repeat Steps 1 to 5 above
Under Sender → Choose a contact (same or different)
Under Message Contains → Type the word selfie
Turn ON “Run Immediately”
Tap Next → Add Action → Run Shortcut → Choose “Selfie”
Tap Next → Done
✅ This will trigger the selfie shortcut when someone sends “selfie” as a message.
🔊 Automation 3: Trigger "Sound Alarm" via SMS
Again, go to Shortcuts App → Automation → + → Create Personal Automation → Message
Choose Sender (trusted number)
Message Contains → Type: sound
Turn ON “Run Immediately”
Tap Next → Add Action → Run Shortcut → Choose “Sound”
Tap Next → Done
✅ This will play a sound from your iPhone when someone sends the word “sound.”
🛠️ STEP 3: Final Setup – Edit Shortcuts
Now we need to go inside the shortcuts you added to customize them with your phone number or contact.
🔧 Edit Shortcut 1: iPhone Lost
Open the Shortcuts app
Tap the “iPhone Lost” shortcut. (Click on 3 dots on iPhone Lost shortcut)
Tap the three dots … on the top-right of the shortcut card
Scroll and find the section that sends the location
Tap on the phone number / contact field
Change it to your trusted number or contact (the one you want to receive the location)
🔧 Edit Shortcut 2: Selfie Capture
Go back to the Shortcuts tab
Tap on the “Selfie” shortcut → tap …
Find the “Photo to Receipient” action
Change the contact/number to your own Friend or someone you trust
✅ Shortcut 3 (Sound Alarm) does not need any changes
It will simply play a sound when triggered. Nothing else needed.
🎉 You’re All Set!
Now try it out:
Ask your trusted contact to message “location”, “selfie”, or “sound”
Your iPhone will react immediately with the shortcut action
Even if it’s on silent or locked (as long as data is on), it will still work
